About the role:

Reporting to the Manager, Environment, the Senior Lead, Environment is responsible for providing leadership to support environmental programs, compliance management, regulatory reporting, permitting, and continuous improvement of site and regional environmental performance and initiatives. In this position, you will be leading a diverse team of environmental professionals, and collaborate closely with regulatory agencies, First Nations, and Communities of Interest. This role requires the maintenance of positive relationships with departments at Line Creek Operations, Environment departments at other EVR operations and regional teams. Specific requirements include directly facilitating or supporting various regulatory inspections as well as internal and external audit programs.

In this role you will:

- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies

- Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team who support successful planning, integration, and management of compliance to all legal and other requirements, including associated Management Plans

- Lead sustainability initiatives inclusive of continuous improvement activities

- Promote the implementation and integration of environment-related requirements into site operational practices and management systems, including regulatory submissions, management plans and monitoring programs

- Implement and maintain environmental operational controls (e.g. Management Plans, Standard Practices & Procedures), including efficiency review

- Manage or contribute to various reports as required to meet provincial and federal requirements, as well as reports required by corporate commitments and initiatives

- Liaise with operational and functional departments to support strong environmental management of site related projects

- Lead and participate in regulatory and internal audits, inspections, and investigations

- Represent the site and EVR while leading engagements and managing relationships with provincial and federal government agencies, Indigenous groups, and other local communities of interest

- Proactively manage environmental risks, and respond to and manage environmental incidents as necessary

- Prepare, submit, and present technical information to a variety of audiences

- Provide senior level reviews and guidance across scopes, and support annual budget development and tracking

- Advise senior management, collaborate with partners, and participate as a member of the senior leadership team at site


Requirements:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Forestry, Agriculture, or a related field

- Minimum eight years demonstrated ability working in an industrial setting, preferably in mining

- Demonstrated leadership and supervision experience

- Technical knowledge of environmental management practices related to water quality, water use, air, waste, and biology (e.g. fish, birds, mammals, herptiles, vegetation)

- Strong knowledge of federal and provincial assessment and compliance practices, and regulations related to resource development

- Experience in project management and delivery, environmental data management and reporting, and obligations management

- Registered, or eligible to apply as a qualified professional such as RPBio, PAg, P.Eng., RPF or related designation is an asset

- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
