The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Government Relations Advisor to join our Government Relations team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with exceptional interpersonal skills who thrives in a team environment to help shape our strategic advocacy approach and continue to build long-term partnerships across government and industry.

Responsibilities

- Monitor, research, analyze and communicate the risks and opportunities associated with government policy changes in Alberta, British Columbia, and federally

- Develop position statements, technical briefing notes, presentations and other policy-related content for internal and external use

- Collaborate with, and support, internal departments and subject matter experts to understand, track, monitor and assess policy changes and their potential impact on ARC’s business

- Represent ARC at various industry and government meetings and events

- Maintain compliance with government lobbying requirements

- Support collaborative work with external organizations on shared policy and research issues

- Contribute to the development and maintenance of relationships with key government officials and stakeholders


What You Will Bring To Arc

- A university degree in public policy, science, economics, or engineering is preferred, and a master's degree in one of these areas would be considered an asset

- A minimum of 10 years of experience in policy development or government relations in the upstream oil and gas sector

- In-depth understanding of policies affecting the oil and gas sector

- Strong quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills

- Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities to build and maintain relationships across the business and within industry

- Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail

- Able to work in a team environment with extensive collaboration and interaction across the organization

- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to manage tight timeframes and balance multiple priorities effectively

- Ability to travel is essential
