Why This Role Matters

Pacific Fusion is seeking a

Senior Electrical Engineer

within the Pulsed Power engineering group to support the development and operation of high-voltage, high-precision pulsed systems critical to fusion research.

What You'll Do

- Design, implement, and troubleshoot high-voltage pulsed systems (up to 5kV) for diagnostic timing and triggering applications.

- Develop and validate timing synchronization systems with sub-nanosecond precision across complex experimental setups.

- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to integrate pulsed systems into larger diagnostic platforms.

- Support hands-on testing, field deployment, and system maintenance, including troubleshooting and upgrades.

- Document system designs, test procedures, and operational practices for pulsed power systems.

What You Bring

- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field.

- 5+ years of hands on experience with an ability to work autonomously.

- Strong understanding of pulsed electronics, time-domain systems, or RF systems with time-domain applications.

- Hands-on experience with high-voltage test equipment, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and fast diagnostics.

- Ability to transition from design through field testing, troubleshooting, and system maintenance.

- Motivated and adaptable, capable of pivoting between multiple technical domains.

Preferred Skills

- Background in national labs, accelerator systems, military/aerospace timing or triggering systems.

- Familiarity with diagnostic timing in beamlines, fusion experiments, or medical x-ray systems.

- Experience in both low-power RF systems and high-voltage pulsed applications.
