CEC is currently looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer (P.Eng.) to join the Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control (EIC) team. This position will be primarily focused on providing electrical engineering services to our clients in the municipal, industrial, utility, and renewable power business areas. The candidate should have extensive experience around grid interconnection, substation, power distribution, and balance of plant systems.
The successful candidate has an innovative, result-driven, and practical approach to designing systems which best meet the project requirements in a time and cost-effective manner. They excel at brownfield projects where information access, execution complexity, and budget constraints can be especially challenging. This engineer thrives both at the desk, producing technical and project management deliverables, and in the field, interacting with clients, partners, and contractors.
- Manage and deliver electrical and power system scope on projects of varying size and complexity.
- Lead the engineering design of HV, MV, and LV (AC/DC) electrical power systems.
- Mentor engineers and designers including training, development, and supervision.
- Perform independent review of the work of other engineers, both client and internal.
- Develop project documentation such as charter, scope, execution plan, schedule, budget, etc.
- Contribute proactively to business development, proposal development, and networking initiatives.
- Possess an electrical engineering degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC.
- Registration in other provinces and the US is considered an asset.
- More than 15 years of experience designing, implementing, and commissioning industrial electrical systems.
- Experience as project manager and lead electrical engineer on multidiscipline projects.
- Experience in independent power, mining, wood, and pulp and paper industries is considered an asset.
- Proficient with power distribution systems including substations, switchgears, motor control centers, and balance of plant.
- Strong knowledge of engineering studies including grounding, short circuit, arc flash, coordination, load flow, etc.
- Strong knowledge of grid interconnection and substation design up to 230 kV.
- Proficient with design principles, codes, and standards for EIC design in Canada and the US.
The successful candidate will report to the EIC Team Lead. The position is preferentially based in either our Prince George or Vancouver offices, but remote work applicants will be considered.
