Summary of Primary Responsibilities:

At direction of General Counsel, candidate will be responsible for supporting the SSP General Counsel in his/her role advising SSP management concerning a wide variety of legal issues, with a primary focus on the performance of U.S. Government contracts and related subcontracts Duties shall also include legal support, as needed, to other functional groups, including the Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H), Procurement, Human Resources, Compliance, and Finance Organizations, as necessary. This entails assistance with the review and negotiation of subcontracts for goods and services, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other applicable health and safety regulations, research and advice on tax matters as well as general contract cost, allowability and audit issues. Occassional legal assistance with government property management, export, records management and ethics and compliance questions may also be required.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school; Licensed to practice law in a state of the United States; ? Eligible to obtain/maintain a license to practice law in the State of Louisiana (in-house counsel status acceptable); ? Advanced knowledge of federal procurement law and requirements associated with FAR-based contracts; ? Experience in a setting requiring substantial client contact and the application of independent judgment; ? Good business acumen; ? Negotiating skills; and ? At least 7 or more years experience in the practice of law. DESIRED: ? Experience providing legal support to the U.S. Government or to an organization that provides services to the U.S. Government. Prior work experience within the Department of Energy (DOE) complex and knowledge of the Department of Energy (DOE) regulations governing Management and Operating (M&O) contractors, is a plus. ? Experience with subcontracting under prime government contracts. ? Working knowledge of federal procurement law. WORKING CONDITIONS: This position is performed in an office environment in New Orleans. However, some travel to Project sites located in the Gulf Coast region may be necessary on occasion. Must be able and willing to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required at some of the project sites and able to sit in meetings or at a computer work station for extended periods of time.
