The

ole will offer comprehensive legal support to the company’s operational departments. We’re looking for a proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative environment while working independently. This person should be adept at identifying and raising issues for further consideration while also demonstrating solid legal judgment.

Act as legal advisor to operational departments including marketing, land, HSE, and production operations for matters affecting the day-to-day business.

- Responsible for providing legal advice in a timely manner to operational departments regarding compliance with contractual, statutory, regulatory and other legal requirements.

- Assist management in identifying legal and business issues and risks and provide creative alternatives to accomplish the business objectives.

- Prepare, review and assist in the negotiation of various oil and gas contracts including leases, farmout agreements, joint operating agreements, landowner/royalty owner agreements, surface access agreements and gas, oil, and other marketing agreements.

- As needed, assist with supervision of litigation and regulatory matters and proceedings.

- Participate in continuing legal education programs to keep abreast of the legal and business developments impacting operations.

- Advise the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel on all significant legal matters, assist in the overall legal services to the Company and perform such other job-related duties and functions as requested by the General Counsel, Assistant General Counsel, or management.

Required Qualifications

- J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

- Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in upstream oil and gas as a practicing attorney; prior in-house legal experience preferred.

- Admission to a state bar with the ability to practice in-house in Texas.

- Regulatory experience in Utah and/or Texas is a plus.

- Strong interpersonal skills: a self-starter and team player who works effectively with others at all levels and in all disciplines in a team environment.

- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment.

- Highly organized with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to prioritize among competing projects for the timely delivery of legal services.

- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and analytical skills with a strong ability to draft and review complex legal documents and apply legal advice in a timely and practical manner.
