We are seeking a Senior Cost Analyst to support financial planning, analysis, and reporting activities for one of our clients in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. This role will provide comprehensive financial management support across operating and capital budgets within a multi-entity environment.
The successful candidate will bring strong analytical expertise, advanced financial systems knowledge, and experience supporting complex project-based operations.
This is a contract position with an anticipated start date of March 18, 2026, and an end date of July 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension. The estimated effort is 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

- Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets
- Develop operating and capital forecasts, including detailed salary analysis
- Analyze budget variances and prepare financial summaries
- Develop financial schedules, timelines, and inputs for corporate budget cycles
- Prepare and process accruals, invoicing, recoveries, recharges, and work order transactions
- Review general ledger activity for accuracy and alignment with accounting standards
- Complete financial reporting required for month-end and year-end close
- Manage inter-company and intra-company transactions, including labour allocations and cost recoveries
- Extract, manipulate, and validate financial data from financial systems and reporting tools
- Maintain data integrity across forecasting and reporting platforms
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
- University degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting, or a related discipline (equivalent experience may be considered)
- Minimum 10 years of financial experience in a project-based environment (engineering, construction, utilities, or capital projects preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of experience working with financial systems, including reporting and analysis
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical skills
- Experience supporting multi-entity or inter-company financial structures is considered an asset
- Experience within the electric utility or regulated industry is considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage shifting priorities
- A valid Canadian driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract is required
- A criminal record check will be required
- Candidates must be fit-for-work and meet client-specific site requirements
- Work will be based in St. John’s, NL
- Periodic travel within Newfoundland and Labrador may be required
