Job Description:

Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Fisheries Science Intern to join our Power Supply team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. Our work plays a critical role in communities we serve across Idaho and Oregon, and we’re working hard to provide our customers with the safe, reliable, affordable energy they depend on. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, fisheries field work occurs on water bodies across Idaho Power’s service territory.

What does a Fisheries Science Intern do for us?

The Science Intern is for students focused on pursuing a career in Fishery Resources. They will operate under supervision and with significant oversight to assist Resource Professionals, Resource Scientists, or Technicians in implementing fishery resource or research programs while gaining valuable skills and experience. Fishery resource programs include collection of all life stages of white sturgeon, bull trout, and other resident fish species associated with the Snake River and its reservoirs and tributaries. The intern may interface with internal departments and external organizations, receiving regular guidance from leaders, Resource Professionals or Scientists. The intern will also assist Resource Professionals or Scientists in implementation of project tasks. They will deploy, operate, and maintain fishery related collection gear and equipment, as well as follow defined protocols. They will maintain accurate and clear documentation of all information, relevant to collection and interpretation of data. The intern will also have general application of fish biology, ecology, and fish identification.

In addition to the meaningful work we do, we offer work-life balance, competitive pay and benefits, an employee incentive plan, and both a 401k employer-match and a pension plan, making Idaho Power one of the best employers in the state.
