To establish and promote the maintenance of a safe, injury-free and healthy work environment.
- Develop and implement a proactive and cooperative safety process
- Formulate general safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal regulations
- Conduct root cause analyses of accidents to identify trends, patterns, etc.
- Inspect or tour facilities/mines to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards
- Coordinate the investigation of accidents and injuries
- Complete and file all necessary reports to MSHA and the state regulatory agencies
- Monitor all aspects of the safety process for compliance
- Devise, supervise and coordinate training programs, serving as instructor when necessary
- Interact with regulatory agencies during inspections, hearings, etc.
- Provide oversight of Behavioral Based Safety Process
- Coordinating with mine sites and engineering department, prepare mine plans as required
- Supervise Central Dispatch office and personnel
- BS Degree in Engineering, Safety, or related field preferred or commensurate experience
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in a safety-related position; supervisory experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated versatility with mining operation knowledge, skills and abilities through positions of increasing responsibility in a variety of positions/departments
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively speak to small and large audiences, adapting content and level of detail to the audience
