Position Overview
The Safety Manager will serve as the on-site lead for all health and safety-related programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, and industry best practices. The role includes conducting safety inspections and observations, managing incidents, coordinating safety trainings, and overseeing the Safety Committee. Candidates must have a strong background in safety, preferably with experience in steel fabrication and welding environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all on-site safety efforts and act as the primary point of contact for safety compliance.
- Conduct regular safety observations, audits, and incident investigations.
- Maintain records of incidents, near-misses, corrective actions, and training logs.
- Oversee and facilitate the Safety Committee to support a culture of accountability and awareness.
- Schedule and deliver ongoing site-specific safety training including OSHA topics, toolbox talks, and job-specific hazards.
- Ensure the use and maintenance of PPE and safe practices across all work areas.
- Collaborate with supervisors and operations to identify and address safety concerns.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite to document and report safety activities and maintain safety-related databases.
- Identify trends and recommend improvements to reduce risk and improve workplace safety.
- Assist in OSHA compliance and represent the company during safety audits or inspections.
- Minimum 1–3 years of safety experience in an industrial or fabrication environment (structural steel/welding experience preferred).
- OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification (30-hour preferred).
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and industry safety regulations.
- Proficient in using a PC and Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with fabrication processes and working knowledge of structural steel and welding safety.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- Must be able to work in a plant environment and tolerate climate changes.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional safety certifications preferred.
