Rental Equipment Field Technician

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Rental Equipment Field Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a wide range of rental equipment including heavy machinery, industrial tools, and automotive components. Your expertise will ensure that equipment is operating at peak performance, safe for use, and ready for customer deployment. Duties

- Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on rental equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other heavy machinery.

- Utilize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.

- Conduct fabrication tasks including welding, assembly, and modifications to meet specific job requirements.

- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used for each piece of equipment.

- Operate heavy equipment safely during testing, troubleshooting, or movement within job sites.

- Assist customers with on-site equipment troubleshooting and provide technical guidance on proper operation and maintenance.

- Ensure all repairs meet safety standards including air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension components, transmissions, and HVAC systems.

Qualifications

- Proven experience working with dealership or OEM equipment repair across various machinery types such as farm machinery, industrial equipment, or construction machinery.

- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in fabrication, welding, electrical diagnostics, and hydraulic systems.

- Familiarity with schematics for heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractors.

- Ability to operate power tools safely and efficiently; experience with hand tools and vehicle maintenance is essential.

- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics related to diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems (including air brakes), alignment procedures and suspension systems.

- Experience in heavy equipment operation including excavators or crane operation is a plus.

- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members.

- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in various outdoor environments; welding or soldering skills are desirable.

- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience with tractor-trailers or similar vehicles is advantageous.
