This position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of an asset reliability program, with a focus on rotating equipment, to ensure predictable and reliable operation, and reduce maintenance costs and downtime. This role works closely with the Operations and Maintenance teams and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between asset strategies and maintenance execution.
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
1. Support the development, implementation, and execution of equipment reliability strategies, focusing on rotating equipment. This includes evaluating condition monitoring, preventative maintenance, and equipment sparing philosophies.
2. Work closely operations and maintenance teams to align maintenance practices, with reliability strategies.
3. Support maintenance teams with the development and optimization of maintenance plans and strategies.
4. Review, interpret condition monitoring data, including vibration data and oil analysis, and provide recommendations.
5. Support the development of data management strategies to ensure reliability and maintenance data can be leveraged to make informed decisions.
6. Define and monitor reliability KPIs and other performance metrics.
7. Act as the internal SME for rotating equipment, supporting operations and maintenance teams as required.
8. Engage third parties as required to support troubleshooting or optimization initiatives.
9. Lead or support root cause failure analysis.
10. Work closely with stakeholders to identify and prioritize high criticality equipment.
11. Drive continuous improvement by incorporating learnings from failures, preventative maintenance, and other monitoring activities, into reliability strategy improvements.
- Provide SME input as required for key project milestones and deliverables. This includes supporting equipment selection for high criticality applications.
- Support scope development for reliability driven maintenance capital projects as required.
- Support the MOC process (review proposals and participate in hazard analysis as required).
- Review and approve performance testing results for high criticality equipment.
- Support the risk management process, ensuring that reliability risks are identified and communicated.
- Foster a collaborative culture of safety, accountability, and performance excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technologist from an accredited institution
- Eligibility for membership in the APEGA or ASET if applicable
- Previous experience with the development and implementation of reliability strategies for rotating equipment.
- 10+ years relevant experience- Knowledge and experience with static equipment – heat exchangers, tanks, vessels.
- Previous experience directly supporting maintenance teams.
- Familiarity with reliability challenges of the SAGD environment
- Extensive knowledge of industry codes and standards pertaining to pumps and rotating equipment (eg; API 610, API 682, API 697, etc.)
- Previous experience with other Owners organizations in similar role
- Root Cause Failure Analysis experience
- Creative and willing to explore innovative fit for purpose solutions
- Strong collaborator with the ability to build relationships and work closely with internal and external stakeholders
