The Regulatory Affairs Specialist supports the Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs Director in ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. This includes regulations related to colors and plant-based ingredients used in food & beverages and pet food. The position reports to the Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs Director and is based in Dallas, NC.
- Tracks, monitors, and communicates all current, proposed, and new regulations that may impact the company to appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Independently researches regulatory information in accordance with US FDA, USDA, and Canadian and Mexican regulations.
- Researches and prepares timely, accurate responses to customer inquiries regarding the regulatory status of products, including specifications, allergens, labeling, nutrition, claims, GMO, Organic, and other certifications.
- Creates and maintains up-to-date regulatory statements.
- Reviews and approves finished product specifications, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and labels to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Conducts regulatory assessments for new ingredients and new product launches.
- Supports the Quality team in new supplier approvals.
- Supports various departments (R&D, QA, Production, Sales & Marketing, Agriculture) regarding regulatory topics.
- Trains internal teams on regulatory topics and updates.
- Handles tasks and assignments as needed to meet the needs of the business.
- Keep up to date with changes in regulatory legislation and guidelines.
- Complete all assigned safety training in a timely manner.
- Stay current with all required training and ensure timely completion.
- Follow the Company's established processes, procedures, and policies, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, and product quality guidelines.
- Maintain a collaborative team mindset while actively supporting GNT's Food Safety culture.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensure your clothing is neat at all times, and support colleagues in adhering to hygiene standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in regulatory compliance within the food industry.
- Experience with ingredient compliance, product compliance, claims, and labeling.
- Strong knowledge of FDA food regulations.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of Canadian and Mexican regulations is a plus, but not required.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
