Material Sciences Corporation is in search of a resourceful and detail-focused Quality Control Manager to oversee the daily quality assurance and control operations at our East Chicago, Indiana facility.
This position provides technical support and resources to Plant Operations, acts as a liaison between Quality Control, Production, and Sales, and contributes to product development through customer collaboration. The Quality Manager is also responsible for the continued development of quality systems and training employees in their use and application.

Essential Functions:
•Quality Management Systems: Facilitate and maintain ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 17025 certifications. Act as the Management Representative for these systems and ensure compliance with quality management standards.
•Quality Assurance: Institute Quality Assurance/Control practices to ensure finished products meet all required specifications.
•Claim Investigations & Corrective Actions: Assist in investigating claims, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions in accordance with ISO/IATF processes.
•Training & Development: Develop and maintain quality training programs for employees. Ensure proper documentation and records of training.
•Continuous Improvement: Stay informed on new developments in ISO/IATF standards and ensure that the plant's quality systems are aligned with best practices.
•Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Assist in developing and tracking plant KPIs and quality-related goals to ensure continuous performance improvement.
•Reporting & Presentations: Provide weekly and monthly quality reports and presentations to leadership, highlighting performance, challenges, and achievements.
•Product Development Support: Provide technical support to the manufacturing team during new product definition and development stages.
•Non-Conforming Materials: Manage and process claims related to non-conforming materials, ensuring accurate monthly HFI valuations and reserve requirements.
•Process Improvement: Facilitate the creation and maintenance of APQP, FMEA, and Control Plans to improve product quality.
•Trend Analysis: Monitor customer complaints and identify trends to mitigate quality issues across departments.
Non-Essential Functions:
•Provide technical service support to production and sales teams as needed.
•Manage departmental budget, ensuring adherence to the financial plan.
•Prepare the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and report variances between planned vs. actual outcomes.
•Coordinate claims, litigations, and negotiations related to quality-related legal matters.
Position Requirements:
•Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline.
•Experience: A minimum of 5 years in the application of quality management systems in a manufacturing environment, specifically with ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and IATF 16949.
•In-depth knowledge of quality and production processes and their integration with various departments (Purchasing, Customer Service, Inventory Control, etc.).
•Strong customer service and technical communication skills.
•Excellent organizational, planning, and program management abilities.
•Proven leadership and supervisory skills, ideally with experience managing a team of 10+ staff members.
•Travel: Ability to travel as necessary.
