We’re seeking a hands-on Purchasing Manager to standardize and optimize U.S. purchasing activities.. In this position, you will support seven coating centers while negotiating with suppliers based, local buyers as well as logistical projects, lead group purchasing initiatives, and help shape the U.S. purchasing strategy. Ionbond provides advanced coating solutions for applications in the aerospace, medical, food contact, automotive, decorative, tooling and fuel cells industries. We offer a broad range of hard, low-friction, wear-resistant coatings based on PVD, PACVD and CVD technologies.
With 34 job coating centers in 15 countries in Europe, North America and Asia, Ionbond has one of the largest coating networks in the world. Ionbond is part of renowned Japanese industrial consortium IHI Group.
- Collaborate with and support the Group Purchasing manager with international purchasing projects
- Ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations such as ISO standards, environmental laws, etc.
- Enter new vendors into the system and maintain all records
- Standardize purchases and consolidate suppliers while continuously negotiating local contracts with an aim to reduce costs annually
- Work closely with Plant Managers and project leads for machine/equipment shipments locally and internationally
- Attract and obtain suppliers in the US with the highest quality standards while paying a fair price
- Responsible for special projects and overseeing capital expense projects
- Administer programs such as company vehicle leases, phones, building leases, office supplies, spare parts, and inventory
- Oversee the Inventory and Logistics Coordinator based in Madison Heights; train and offer back up as needed

The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelors Degree in Business, Logistics or Supply Chain Management or have relevant work experience. 5-10 years of supply chain/logistics and volume purchasing knowledge. Advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with Microsoft Dynamics – Business Central preferred. Knowledge of international shipping, including items exceeding $1mil USD. Experience in negotiating contracts with suppliers/local buyers for multiple cost centers. Excellent communication and project management skills. Strong ability to multitask. Possess a strong work ethic, demonstrating a commitment to time management and process improvement. Must be willing to travel throughout the US occasionally (10% or less,) eligible to work in the U.S. and pass a background check/physical screening.
