A leading Puerto Rican company in the energy sector is seeking an experienced Purchasing Director to provide strategic leadership to the procurement department. The ideal candidate will ensure the efficient and timely supply of materials and services to support the company operations.
Responsibilities:
•Design and lead procurement strategies aimed at maximizing efficiency, profitability, and sustainability.
•Lead and oversee strategic negotiations with domestic and international suppliers to secure optimal terms, value, and long-term partnerships.
•Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and uphold the highest standards of operational excellence.
•Oversee and promote the continuous development of the procurement department to ensure a high-performing and strategically aligned team.
•Identify and assess supply chain risks, implementing robust contingency strategies to mitigate potential disruptions and ensure continuity of operations.
•Manage the procurement department’s budget and ensure alignment with financial objectives.
•Monitor market trends, identify opportunities for improvement, and spearhead innovation and digital transformation initiatives within the procurement function.
•Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, as well as adherence to internal corporate policies.
Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Procurement, Logistics, or Finance.
•A minimum of five (5) years of progressive, relevant experience in procurement or a related field.
•Advanced bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (oral and written).
•Comprehensive knowledge of procurement processes, with a strong background in both domestic and international sourcing, logistics coordination, contract negotiation, supplier engagement, and personnel supervision.
•Advanced proficiency in database systems and Microsoft Excel, coupled with strong analytical skills and the ability to generate insightful reports to support data-driven decision-making.
•Proven leadership abilities and a collaborative approach to team development and cross-functional coordination.
•Availability to work Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
