Horizon Steel, an industry leader in steel processing throughout North America is seeking a pragmatic, detailed oriented Director of Procurement . The job description is below.

•

Develop and lead purchasing strategies across Horizon Steel.

•

Develop and manage supplier base with input from sales staff and internal stakeholders.

•

Develop relationships with mill representatives. Lead negotiation strategies to close contracts with optimal terms.

•

Contribute to company profitability by developing optimal to material supply-chain and pricing.

•

Design, manage, and monitor purchasing reports to meet customer requirements and material availability.

•

Prompt responses to customer opportunities with a strong overall focus to customer satisfaction.

•

Monitor suppliers’ performances with metrics such as quality, on-time-delivery, and price.

•

Participation in Executive Management planning and strategic decisions.

•

Proven collaborative leader overseeing procurement processes to ensure consistent and best-in-class practices

Minimum Qualifications

•

Minimum 5 years’ experience in the metals industry, preferably carbon flat role

•

Aluminum and stainless knowledge a plus

•

Strong inventory control background

•

Experience in mill contract negotiation

•

Detail and process oriented

•

Strong computer skills, Microsoft office / ERP

•

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge and Skills Preferred

•

Self -Starter

•

Bachelors’ degree preferred Supply Chain/ Business
