The Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring landscape materials including but not limited to plants, raw materials, and equipment for large scale construction projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

•

Consults catalogs and contacts suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.

•

Prepares purchase order and sends copy to supplier and department originating request.

•

Compiles records of items purchased or transferred between departments, prices, and inventory.

•

Computes total cost of items purchased and assists with vendor reconciliations.

•

Confers with suppliers concerning delivery dates and traces delinquent arrivals from P.O.

•

Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates and awards contract to bidders or places orders with suppliers.

•

Maintains tracking of job-cost budgets; analyzes and adjusts any and all items relating to the budget.

•

Negotiates with trade partners to receive best terms, rebates, and pricing.

•

Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Skills & Competencies:

•

High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience.

•

Good negotiating skills.

•

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

•

Must possess strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent tasks and projects.

•

Ability to monitor own work to ensure quality with limited supervision.

•

Above average attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.

Perks and Pluses:

•

Schedule: 7am - 3:30pm or 7:30am - 4pm

•

Pay Range: $24-$27/Hour, Depending on Experience

•
