The Purchasing Agent for Scalo Inc is responsible for sourcing, ordering, and managing materials for commercial and residential roofing, sheet metal, solar panels, and other goods and services for construction projects across locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio. This role requires close collaboration with division heads, estimators, and warehouse staff to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials aligned with project needs and forecasts. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The position plays a key role in monitoring supplier performance and contributing to the company’s operational efficiency.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
•Purchase materials relating to commercial and residential roofing, repair and maintenance, sheet metal, and solar for construction projects. This includes locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
•Work closely and communicate with the division heads and estimators for daily and future projections.
•Assemble consolidated summaries, quotes, and initial preload dates for orders
•Manage purchases by forwarding orders to suppliers and monitoring and expediting orders
•Interaction and communication with warehouse personnel
•Establish and maintain an accurate filing system.
•Keep information accessible by sorting and filing documents
•Prepare quarterly reports.
•Prepare and keep accurate files for dollars spent on materials
•Track shipments that have not been received
•Report any changes in materials, pricing, terms, etc. to the President of the company and all estimators and department heads
•Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
•Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field and one (1) year of experience or a minimum of two (2) years of proven experience in a Purchasing role
•Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
•Possess a customer care focus and have ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
•Willingness to learn and provide assistance to all operational personnel
•Ability to work independently and within a team effectively
•Possess a strong sense of accountability and high work standards
•Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on accuracy and details
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field
•Construction industry experience
•Prior experience with negotiating
Physical Requirements:
•Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
•Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
•Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs.
•May require some travel.
Job Type: Full-time, In-office
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 per year
