Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that materials and supplies are acquired efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time. This position supports both local and international purchasing, with a focus on importation logistics and inventory best practices.
Responsibilities:
•Plan and schedule orders for raw materials, components, maintenance items, equipment repairs, operating supplies, safety gear, packaging, rentals, and other plant-related needs.
•Collaborate with U.S. and overseas vendors, ensuring timely procurement and delivery of goods
•Monitor and coordinate import shipments, ensuring compliance with import/export regulations
•Track purchases and maintain detailed logs of acknowledgments, delivery timelines, and provide regular updates to plant and department personnel
•Maintain and organize the storage room, ensuring all materials are properly labeled, stored, and easy to access
•Assist the accounting department to set up new vendors and maintain accurate documentation, including contracts, business profiles, W-9s, and certificates of insurance
•Manage all product returns and coordinate with the accounting department to ensure accurate financial reporting and prevent erroneous payments
•Review and revise purchasing plans based on production usage, cost trends, and vendor performance
•Conduct cost analysis, explore alternative vendors, and help mitigate supply issues
•Monitor and log updated pricing, ensuring accurate and current cost information
•Maintain strong communication and relationships with vendors, negotiating pricing and terms as needed
•Collaborate with internal departments to align purchasing strategies with operational goals
Requirements:
•3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management
•Experience with importation shipments is required
•Strong understanding of inventory management and best practices
•Experience working in or supporting manufacturing, industrial, or plant environments
•Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Desktop
•Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
•Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required
Preferred Qualifications:
•Familiarity with international customs processes and documentation
•Previous experience coordinating with multiple departments (e.g., production, maintenance, safety)
•Knowledge of purchasing compliance and audit protocols
