Liftsafe Group of Companies is a privately owned company that designs, builds, inspects and maintains lifting, material handling, and fall protection systems equipment.
The Project Manager/Designer (Estimator) role is designed to take ownership of smaller projects from start to finish. The role is a part of the Engineering department of Liftsafe Engineering and Services Group Inc. The purpose of this role is to oversee the lifecycle of various miscellaneous metals and standard product projects, including but not limited to: providing accurate cost estimates and quotations for both custom and configured products and working with clients to ensure the quoted solution meets their needs. This role will ensure the efficient execution of projects, from design through to completion, while maintaining cost control and quality standards.
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Project Manager/Designer (Estimator) include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepare proposals for LESG configured products and custom manufactured products, including accurate cost estimates, BOMs, and customer approval drawings.
- Complete follow ups on proposals to secure quoted work.
- Assist in analyzing plans and specifications to provide clear and coordinated interpretations of designs for fabrication.
- Act as a liaison with customers to expedite drawings and related information.
- Conduct field site walks with customers, building representatives, and lead installers to determine construction requirements.
- Monitor and control quality and costs throughout each project.
- Attend project coordination and meetings with owners, contractors, architects, and engineers.
- Understand and perform document control functions, including tracking and creating project documentation.
- Conduct design analysis to ensure the appropriateness of design and identify any issues.
- Review specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work, and perform quantity take-offs for all labor, equipment, and materials.
- Solicit pricing from vendors and suppliers and produce accurate cost estimates by working closely with engineering and field service departments.
- Coordinate final proposal deliverables with sales and marketing and compare bid drawings to construction drawings.
- Recalculate estimates in response to client or architectural specification changes.
- Implement estimating best practices to ensure consistency in estimating deliverables.
- Work with the operations team to hand off won projects smoothly.
- Engineering degree or diploma in Construction Technology or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience, including project management and estimating. Experience in construction, fabrication, or project estimating is required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, MS Project, and Excel. Knowledge of structural steel fabrication and design, cost estimating principles, and field safety.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to represent the company professionally.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, documentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills with strong analytical and creative thinking abilities.
