The Project Engineer II–III is responsible for the successful delivery of oil and gas facility projects from concept development through detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and closeout. This position provides technical ability and project coordination to ensure projects are executed safely and in alignment with approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives. The role works closely with multidisciplinary teams, engineering consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Involved with all aspects of assigned oil and gas facility projects, including scope definition, cost estimating, scheduling, risk assessment, execution planning, and project controls.
Develop and manage capital cost estimates, project schedules, and resource plans.
Guide projects through feasibility, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, turnover to operations and cost reconciliation at end of project.
Monitor performance against plan and implement corrective actions to address risks, cost variances, or schedule impacts.
Ensure designs are fit-for-purpose and compliant with regulatory, environmental, health and safety requirements, applicable industry codes, and corporate standards.
Review engineering deliverables (drawings, specifications, technical reports, material take-offs) for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project objectives.
Evaluate vendor technical bids and material quotations; provide recommendations based on technical merit, cost, and delivery.
Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Facilitate clear and effective communication across technical and non-technical groups.
Support contractor performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure full compliance with regulatory and corporate safety standards throughout project execution.
Support cost optimization initiatives and incorporation of lessons learned.
Contribute to the development and enhancement of engineering standards, project management processes, and best practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or related discipline).
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA or able to get certification
4–5+ years of progressive engineering experience, including project engineering or project management responsibilities.
Strong understanding of oil and gas facility design, construction practices, and project delivery methodologies.
Must have a positive attitude and be a team player possessing a high degree of initiative, teamwork, creativity, communication skills, self-supervision, and respect for safety requirements.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams in industrial environments.
Sound technical judgment, analytical capability, and risk management skills.
Adaptable to changes and able to work flexible hours
Ability to read and understand technical manuals, electrical and mechanical drawings and PIDs and write routine reports and correspondence
Understand and execute Job Safety Analysis (JSA) forms and Field Service Reports (FSR)s
Knowledge of gas plant and/or power plant or related equipment; safety practices, machinery inspection procedures; basic chemistry principles; gas and/or power plant processes; theories and principles of power plant operations; basic electrical principles
Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel to field locations as required.

The performance of this position may require travel in North America & job sites where under certain areas require the use of PPE (personal protective equipment).
