DC Fabricators has been supplying equipment to the United States Navy for over 55 years. Located in Florence, NJ, we engineer and fabricate/manufacture equipment at this site.
We are seeking a full time Project Engineer.
Summary: Required to support new design and ongoing engineering issues that arise during the manufacture of the product. DC Fabricators designs and manufactures (on site) heat transfer equipment for the United States Navy for Nuclear Submarines and Surface Ships (such as Aircraft Carriers). This equipment mainly includes large steam surface condensers, water to water heat exchangers and oil coolers. This equipment is designed to meet heat transfer requirements and be able to withstand stresses due to seawater pressure, potential shock events (underwater explosions), galvanic corrosion, erosion, thermal fatigue, high velocity vibration and the thermal loading conditions that can be encountered during submarine/ship service.
- Some exposure to heavy manufacturing environment is desirable. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledgeable in heat transfer and thermodynamics
- Knowledgeable in machine design, structural (stress) analysis techniques
- Knowledge in vibration and materials science
- Perform/review engineering calculations (mostly structural)
- Review drawings, prepare bills of materials and material procurement specifications.
- Prepare various engineering documentation (from 1-page summaries to 1,000 page technical reports)
- Provide direction to drafting personnel, work with quality control and coordinate efforts between all departments.
- Attend meetings with customers (shipyards) and suppliers (material suppliers).
- Complete special assignments, as necessary.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related engineering curriculum, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills are required. Must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with ERP systems is preferred.
- Must be capable of taking a technical leadership role on a selected project.
- Must be capable of working cohesively with various other individuals of different disciplines and their basic relationship to the various manufacturing efforts performed in a shop environment.
- Must have knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Must be able to provide a copy of college transcript.
- Must be a US Citizen at time of hire.
