Overview of Production Lead

The Production Lead supports the daily operations of the manufacturing floor, ensuring production goals are met safely, efficiently, and with high quality. This role coordinates team activities, monitors workflow, and ensures materials, processes, and equipment are aligned to meet schedule requirements. The Production Lead serves as the first point of contact for production employees and works closely with supervisors, quality control, and coordination to maintain smooth operations. Some of the key responsibilities of the Production Lead

· Lead day-to-day production activities to meet output, quality, and safety goals.

· Assign work and monitor progress.

· Assist with scheduling production runs based on inventory levels and production forecasts.

· Coordinate with materials and warehouse teams to ensure proper inventory flow and FIFO procedures are followed.

· Support training of new employees and provide guidance to improve efficiency and accuracy.

· Monitor equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.

· Conduct regular quality checks and assist in tracking corrective actions.

· Help track and report key performance metrics (KPI’s) for production efficiency, scrap rates, and downtime.

Qualifications of the Production Lead

· High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or associate degree preferred.

· 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or production environment; prior lead or trainer experience preferred.

· Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety practices.
