SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Production Lead is responsible for assisting with the daily production activities while actively participating in the fabrication of metal components. This dual-role position ensures that production goals are met efficiently and safely, with a strong focus on quality, workflow coordination, and team support. The Working Lead serves as a key point of contact between frontline workers and management, balancing leadership duties with hands-on involvement in metalworking processes such as welding, cutting, machining, or assembly.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Production Oversight:
1. Contribute in your skilled area to produce metal parts at least 50% of the time to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner.
2. Review and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders.
3. Assists in studies and plans production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
4. Review and recommend staffing requirements to meet production needs.
5. Work with QA to conduct inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Team Lead:
6. With guidance from the Manufacturing manager, assist with the activities of direct and indirect labor employees engaged in fabrication, joining or assembly to meet daily goals.
7. Schedule daily work assignments for direct and indirect labor employees as needed.
8. Ensures accurate completion of required documentation and reporting regarding quality, scrap, rework, and quantity produced.
9. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
10. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
11. Assists in studies and plans production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
12. Assist workers in solving work problems and/or directing them to the correct resources.
13. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
14. Assign tasks and ensure team members understand job expectations.
15. Assist in the interviewing process and new employee orientation training.
16. Provide feedback to Manufacturing Manager for employee performance appraisal
17. Attend and participate in Team Lead, production planning or management meetings
Training:Safety and Compliance:
18. Fosters a safety culture within the departments by supporting compliance with established guidelines related to Health, Safety, and PPE.
19. Support and provide training with individuals or small groups.
20. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Conducts accident investigations when needed.
21. Blueprint and traveler training for new employees.
22. Assist in onboarding new employees.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Highschool diploma or GED or combination of school and experience.
- 2-5 years of experience in metal fabrication with skill in Weld, CNC, Brake Press, Turret or similar in metal fabrication.
- Previous experience in leading a department or team
