Process Supervisor

Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Bald Mountain and the nearby Round Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.

Bald Mountain is an important contributor to the economy of northeastern Nevada and maintains a comprehensive environmental strategy including wildlife protection, habitat recovery and education.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Process General Supervisor, the incumbent is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the Plant and Leach Pad facilities, ensuring that all daily activities are consistently aligned with Kinross’ core values and adhere to Company policies.

Essential Functions

- Supervise crew activities during shifts to ensure safe and efficient accomplishment of assignments.

- Meet stated production goals in an innovative and safe manner.

- Work in cooperation with Process Maintenance to be involved in emergency and preventive maintenance activities on equipment and operational coordination to ensure continuity of the production process.

- Responsibilities include but are not limited to: shift paperwork such as employee performance logs, shift production reports, environmental reports, safety inspections/reports, vacation schedules/ coverage time sheets, shift logs, etc. Must have general knowledge of company rules and policies so that decisions made are in conformance with company requirements. Schedule work assignments and prioritize crew activities in consultation with the General Supervisor. Guidance of crew members to ensure that a harmonious work environment is maintained when dealing with various personalities in the workforce.

- Responsible for crew training to include signing of the MSHA 5000-23 forms for all applicable jobs in the department.

- This person must be knowledgeable of the safety and environmental policies of the company and the department, and see to it that they are followed. Must be familiar with the paperwork involved with safety and environmental issues.

- Must be able & willing to conduct weekly Safety Talks for the process group, and daily crew lineouts & any other assigned meetings.

- Promote and maintain the Critical Risk Management (CRM) program.

- Conduct accident or incident investigations.

- Daily communication with the General Forman is required. Must ensure that he is immediately informed of important information, such as changes to the process, equipment problems, employee problems and incidents.

- Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct.

- Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

- Minimum 4 years’ experience in ore processing.

- Two years’ experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.

- This person may be required to participate in shutdown planning.

- Ensure that continuity and communication, internal to the department as well as external to the department, is maintained.

- Must have an understanding of leaching operations, as well as knowledge of leach pad and maintenance operations.

- Direct supervision of crew members to execute the operational plan for the week. Must hold crew members accountable for using SOPs to execute their work.

- Maintain an effective working relationship with all personnel in the department and external to the department to ensure continuity of operations.

- Will be held accountable to help develop and review all SOPs associated with the Ore Processing Department. Must work with the trainer when changes to procedures are necessary and communicate these changes to members of respective crews.

- Must be able to operate JDE.

- Working knowledge and skill with P.C., utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.

- This person must be willing to attend required classes to increase their effectiveness as a supervisor.

- Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.

- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.

- Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.

- Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational, and writing skills.

- Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

- Requires a valid driver’s license.
