Position Overview
The Practice Director, Grid Modernization is a key leadership role responsible for guiding high-performing teams, driving delivery excellence, and advancing Mosaic’s Grid Modernization strategy. This individual plays a critical role in coaching and developing talent, aligning departmental goals with organizational objectives, and promoting a culture of collaboration and innovation. In addition to leading internal operations, the Director is client-facing and billable, leveraging deep industry expertise to shape strategic solutions, build trusted client relationships, and support business development efforts. This role blends people leadership with consulting excellence to strengthen Mosaic’s capabilities, reputation, and long-term impact in the utility space.
Roles and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Practice Director, Grid Modernization role are as follows:
Leadership and Coaching
•Proactively gather performance feedback and provide timely and effective coaching with a focus on areas of growth, opportunity, successes, and lessons learned.
•Develop and implement a succession plan to develop the team and set the department up for scale.
•Conduct performance review and feedback sessions with direct reports.
•Collaborate with Centers of Excellence (CoE's) to enhance the Grid Operations and Grid Modernization acumen, bringing these areas of expertise into alignment with the organization's goals.
•Cascade company communications to direct reports and provide leadership in adoption of change.
•Identify resource strengths and potential and adapts to different skills and styles to develop capabilities in direct reports and project team members.
•Provide day-to-day support to team members and proactively finds solutions that address concerns.
•Lead the implementation and promotion of Mosaic’s Grid Modernization branding, both internally and externally, adapting it as the field evolves.
•Collaborate with Managers across the organization to implement new ideas and best practices that result in growth and increased employee and customer success.
•Encourage and lead team members in cross-collaboration efforts across different departments to promote knowledge sharing and a culture of teamwork.
•Partner with Grid Modernization leadership to ensure that direct reports are meeting or exceeding performance expectations, meeting client and team expectations, and successful in their project role.
Consulting/Billable Hours Work
•Lead strategic conversations with clients to shape future-state business processes, guiding the organization toward its long-term goals.
•Offer industry expertise to influence the development of future-state "To Be" business processes, driving desired business outcomes.
•Collaborate closely with Client Development to support sales efforts, engaging in strategic conversations with current and prospective clients.
•Partner with Client Development to scope, estimate, and create Statement of Work (SOW) for new business.
•Cultivate professional relationships with customers to foster a strong partnership between the training and operational functions.
•Maintain and meet established billable hours targets.

Skills and Experience
•Extensive experience in a consulting or professional services environment, focusing on growth, customer relationship management, and service innovation.
•Proven track record of leading multiple technology projects, driving revenue growth, establishing and managing successful client relationships, and delivering high-quality consulting services.
•Strong business acumen and demonstrated problem-solving abilities in a production/deadline-driven environment.
•The ability to see multiple points of view and guide diverse teams and clients on a wide range of technical matters.
•Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, foster collaboration, and work through conflict.
•Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively articulate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
•Ten plus years of experience with complex control system design, development, and deployment.
•Experience with ABB, OSI, GE, or Schneider Electric systems and tools.

The compensation range considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making hiring and compensation decisions. These factors include, but are not limited to candidate skill set, consulting experience, training and education, competencies, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Mosaic strives to set salaries at, or near the 50th percentile (midpoint) of the range and it is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the range for the position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $220,000.00 to $240,000.00. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus program of up to 10% of annual compensation. The bonus program is dependent on a variety of factors including organizational and individual performance.
