- Follow Nelson standards, policies and objectives.
- Performs preparations for powder coating of parts by cleaning the paint booth every day before placing parts, selects the color to be used based on the work order on the parts, or according to verbal instructions and other forms of instructions, physically removes paint from shelves by hand or with the help of coworkers and places it at the work area.
- Operates equipment and machines accordingly to specific operational and safety instructions.
- Spray powder onto parts using the right technique to assure an even and consistent thickness.
- Verbally communicates to maintenance technician any machinery and equipment functional problems and notifies supervisor any quality or production issues detected.
- Maintains general housekeeping for work area.
- High School diploma or GED
- Previous Powder Coat experience
- Must have general or working knowledge, at least average skill, and some experience with ordinary to semi-complex equipment operation.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to do basic math, including decimals and percentages.
- Must be able to complete tooling changes and start-up and shut-down of machines.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must have working knowledge of common materials.
- Ability to read and write and comprehend for purpose of communicating safety instructions and work directions. Be aware of and observe quality requirements.
- Must be able to work with manual and powered hand tools, must be able to distinguish colors.
- Requires constant alertness and attention to detail of correct product shipped and the count quantity.
- Work involves likelihood of irregularity of work schedule to meet customer demand.
- Performing these duties will involve lifting, pulling, or pushing physical objects; standing, stooping and bending, walking and standing for long periods of time.
- Working in hot, cold, noisy work areas and being exposed to odors, fumes, and dust.
- Must be able to constantly sustain exertion and lifting of parts ranging from 0 –25 lbs.
- Personal Protective Equipment includes safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
