Powder Coat Support Technician

Summary:

This job posting is for the full-time position of Powder Coat Support Technician with ASAP Metal Fabricators, a sheet-metal manufacturing job shop in Yakima, WA.

This position is responsible for loading carts and hanging parts to keep our Powder Coat system running at maximum output. Training and assistance will be provided as needed. We’re looking for someone reliable and energetic, who works well with others, has an eye for detail and is excited to work with their hands every day.

Here are some details:

Typical Responsibilities

- Load a wide range of parts onto hanger carts, secure with appropriate spacing for powder coat

- Remove dirt, paint, grease, and other materials from metal surfaces

- Mask surfaces needing protection as needed

- Unload parts after powder is cured, inspect for defects

- Palletize and package parts for shipping

- Perform assigned work expediently, while always meeting quality specifications

- Safely operate a forklift to transport raw materials and completed parts

- Know when to escalate an issue and ask for help

- Float and assist other team members and work centers from time to time

- Always work Safely, wear appropriate PPE to protect yourself at all times

- Keep work area and tools organized

- Follow all company rules and policies

- Follow all safety rules and quality standards

- Communicate productively with the team to identify and overcome problems

- Work productively with the team, build a respectful work environment that we can all be proud of

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with powder coating or sandblasting in a similar environment

- Ability to operate a forklift

- Must be able to lift 50lbs

- High energy level, great work ethic, excellent attendance

- Flexible and responsive, with a strong teamwork orientation

- Good verbal and written communication skills

- Desire to learn new skills and improve my technical knowledge

- Commitment to quality of work performed

- Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change

Preferred Experience

- 0-4 Years experience as a Powder Coater or Sandblaster

- Forklift Certification, at least within 90 days of start date

The business operates on a 4/10's 40-hour workweek. Overtime may occasionally be required. Standard hours of operation are:

- Monday-Thursday, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm
