As Propane Plant Manager, this position safely and productively oversees propane storage facility operations to ensure safe and efficient operation of the facility, maintenance, and inventory control. This position provides leadership in support of the Dead River Company Brand Promise, Customer Guarantees and Pledges, and Co-worker Guarantees and Pledges.
1. Supervises and participates in the maintenance of the bulk plant to ensure an efficient and safe operation.
2. Supervises and assists with the offloading of propane from rail cars.
3. Maintains inventory records of propane and any propane related parts and equipment.
4. Hires and evaluates performance of bulk plant workers as needed.
5. Coordinates inventory requirements with Manager, Supply and Logistics.
6. Gains knowledge of codes and regulations relating to the proper storage and handling of propane gas. Acquires and maintains appropriate certification as necessary.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required. Previous management experience is preferred.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Applicable propane CETP certification is required for propane plant workers.
Plant workers must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.
This position deals with truck drivers, equipment and parts supply vendors, and Energy Division employees.
This position makes decisions regarding the appropriate oversight of daily propane plant operations. Complex problems or unusual issues are referred to the Manager, Rail Terminals
Safety considerations relate to safe operation of the propane bulk plant, wearing appropriate personal protective safety equipment, proper lifting of heavy parts or equipment, and general observation of the surroundings where work is being done. Safety considerations also relate to the safe transportation of petroleum products.
All types of hand tools, power tools, cranes and lifting devices, and appropriate gauges and meters. A personal computer is also used.
Temperatures can vary from below zero to above 90 degrees, depending on the time of year. Since the job involves working with propane gas, there is some exposure from the product and the odorant added to the gas.
Plant workers move various sized objects and tanks weighing from a few pounds up to100 pounds or more. When very heavy objects are moved mechanical assistance is available or the plant worker can ask for help.
