Job Overview: This role also serves as a resource for the Finance and Operations teams including plant managers and other management within the organization, advising them of inventory variances, costing of manufactured products and margin improvement recommendations. This professional administrative role is plant-based and will demand significant time to be spent throughout the plant related to inventory and fixed assets.
- Maintain Standard Cost inventory valuation and product costing within the accounting system
- Control and review landed costs and variance analysis
- Investigate purchase price variance with Supply Chain team
- Continuous improvement of systematic processes related to inventory transactions with the Sales & Operations team.
- Perform month-end close responsibilities that include but not limited to:
- Inventory reporting and reconciliation to subledger
- Inventory roll forwards
- Journal Entry accruals
- Fixed Asset depreciation
- Other Account reconciliations
- Analyze manufacturing operations, equipment availability and utilization
- Perform cost benefit and report profitability of top customer accounts to ensure proper costing is reflected in sales
- Assist CFO in plant cost center report preparation and COGS analysis.6. Work with plant departments to help understand the monthly operating results comparing budget to actual-month and year-to-date
- Support and assist all cycle count and year-end inventory count program objectives and work with the plant teams to review performance and reporting analysis.
8. Enforce and follow Company policy on capitalizing fixed assets to ensure any plant expenses are captured with the proper accounting guidance.
9. Work with other team members on special projects as assigned and time permits.
10. Act as a resource to the Corporate Finance team for providing additional information or support during all internal and external audits, including LIFO valuation reporting
11. Processes payroll reports to support Human Resources
The plant accountant has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Employee will be expected to work closely with plant managers, sales, and executives of the company and will be the plant point of reference for all physical inventory counts (both year-end and cycle counts).
This job operates primarily in plants. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This role requires the person to obtain MSHA certification.
This role will be a combination of sedentary and walking the plant including counting inventory. This would require the ability to lift files, bend, and reach as necessary. Assist in physical inventory counts of our manufacturing facilities (MSHA and/or OSHA sites).
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday based on the plant location hours. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Coordination of start/stop times will be needed to support our plants in various time zones.
Travel expected at a minimum of once every quarter to either the corporate office or other US Asbury Plants.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant years of experience.
