O’Brien Steel is seeking a motivated Outside Sales Representative to drive growth and develop long-term customer relationships across our Western Wisconsin territory. While the ideal candidate will be based in Wausau, WI, we are open to candidates residing elsewhere in Western Wisconsin or the Minneapolis area. This role is critical to expanding our presence and delivering superior service to customers in the region.
- Develop and grow customer accounts by building strong relationships with key decision-makers, including purchasing agents, managers, and owners
- Proactively schedule face-to-face meetings and document activities in CRM
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and customer commitments
- Partner closely with Inside Sales to ensure seamless execution
- Follow up on outstanding quotes and opportunities
- Collaborate with internal departments (estimating, processing, accounts receivable, and shipping) to deliver accurate information, high-quality products, and on-time deliveries
- Stay current on market conditions, supply chain trends, demand levels, and competitor activity at both a national and regional level
- Provide timely and accurate sales reports to management and customers
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of successful sales experience in steel, manufacturing, or other industrial markets- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
