Responsible for supporting activities and processes related to the operation of all plant equipment. Supervises and assists personnel involved in the operation, maintenance, analysis and planning activities associated with plant operations.
- Supervises personnel responsible for the equipment and processes associated with the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the plant.
- Directs operating activities of control room and plant operators during normal operation, outages, and startups and shutdowns.
- Performs supervisory duties in accordance with Cardinal Operating Company policies and procedures. Responsible for ensuring team members complete assigned duties satisfactorily.
- Conducts daily pre-job briefs with employees covering routine and non-routine work.
- Assures adherence to safety/health policies and procedures, confined space policies, environmental stewardship, and industrial hygiene policies.
- Communicates plant correspondence (i.e. plant policies, guidelines, procedures, memos, etc.) to team personnel.
- Verifies and approves timesheets for team personnel.
- Assists in scheduling team manpower, tracking vacation and/or sick time and calling overtime as required.
- Maintains awareness of plant operations to ensure optimum economy in the operation of the plant. Records and tracks discrepancies or errors, coordinate with others and make recommendations to correct and improve conditions.
- Formulates plans and executes action required to resolve immediate equipment problems in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- Acts as an Issuing Authority Designee in the Cardinal Operating Company (COC) Clearance Permit Program.
- Assists Process Teams and other departments with troubleshooting of equipment as required. .
- Ensures proper housekeeping is maintained.
- Oversees completion of summer and winter operating preparations and remediation plans.
- Acts as back up to Team Leader – Operations.
- Respond to callouts as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Eight (8) years of experience in the operation of industrial equipment
- Five (5) years of experience, of the eight (8) years, in the operation of power plant equipment is preferred
- Relevant on-the-job experience or education above and beyond that described above may be substituted for part of the experience and/or education requirement

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk; sit; work with hands and fingers; push, pull, reach, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; communicate with others to exchange information; and hear. The employee must be able to operate machinery, motor vehicles, heavy equipment, and power tools. The employee must have close visual acuity to analyze data, perform inspections, and view computer monitors; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
This position requires working in hazardous conditions such as extreme heat and cold both in inside and outside environments; environments containing fumes, odors, dust, gases, and high amounts of noise and vibration. Additionally, this position requires the ability to work in close quarters, narrow passageways, at heights, on grating, platforms, scaffolding, poles, and catwalks. Work outside normal business hours may be required.
