The
Operations Manager
is responsible for ensuring that the work at a specific job site, or job sites, is being carried out in the most efficient manner possible and according to the contract. The Operations Manager shall work with the Project Manager, Superintendent and Foreman to ensure that resources are assigned, and consult on required tools/equipment/material, and supplies are ordered to perform the work and ensure that all the procedures and policies dictated by the contract, HMT manuals, and customer specifications are being followed. This individual serves as the primary point of contact for the Superintendent and Foreman regarding all field operations. The Operations Manager may also be required to perform job walks, consult on estimates, and submit proposals per management direction.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities•Manage the Superintendent/ Foreman to ensure that the job is completed safely, with quality, and as efficiently as possible. Products Ops will be responsible for building job book template.
•Ensure that all work is performed per the contract documents, and that additional work is done only after approval from the Project Manager and the customer. Identify all scope of work changes as they occur and communicate this information to the Project Manager, Superintendent, Foreman and customer as needed.
•Responsible for ensuring that the manpower needs at the jobsite is adequate. Assist with recruiting and hiring field times.
•Responsible for ensuring that the equipment, consumables, and small tools are available when needed and in adequate amounts. Ensure that company equipment is adequately supplied, maintained, and utilized. Ensure that rental equipment is taken off rent when not in use. Ensure that equipment and tools are in good working order.
•Work with the Project Manager, Superintendent and Foreman regarding job schedules, performance, and potential work scope issues that may arise.
•Responsible for ensuring that the Superintendents and Foreman are following the QA/QC Program, Safety Manual, and other company programs as well as customer specific quality and safety programs.
•Perform weekly jobsite safety inspections, and document as required per the safety manual.
•Ensure that progress report, received from the project manager, are completed by the superintendents and foremen.
•Consult on Bid Review, Engineering, Safety Plan, Quality Plan and developing project schedule with necessary functions.
•Approve timesheets for payroll sheets.
•Ensure that HMT refresher training is being completed by field personnel.
•Coordinate communication among your team members, the customer, and subcontractors as needed.
•Assist the Project Manager with following the job close out procedure upon the completion of the work.
Qualifications & Education
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•8 years’ experience in the AST (Above Ground Storage Tank industry)
•Must have a minimum of 10 years of Field Construction experience.
•Detail-oriented, Excellent organizational skills.
•Ability to handle multiple jobs concurrently.
•Ability to recognize hazards on a job site and know the proper mitigation controls for all risks associated.
•Maintain accurate Field Progress Reports.
•Able to give clear and concise instructions to multiple employees in the execution of work.
•Ability to interpret field and fabrication drawings.
•Must be DOT OQ qualified dependent on jobsite.
•Must have a 3-year clean driver record.
•Must be able to pass customer required background checks.
•Active TWIC Card required.
•Experience supervising the construction of industrial type facilities.
•Demonstrated ability to work independently and handle a broad scope of responsibility.
•Thorough understanding of construction scheduling and cost control; comprehensive knowledge of company policies, procedures, and standards; Sound communication, organizational, supervisory and planning skills
