The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Gulf Electroquip’s manufacturing and repair business, with additional support for IDEAL Electric’s Houston production operations. This role ensures production goals are met safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
This is a hands-on leadership position, directly managing supervisors and production staff to execute plans and deliver results that support overall business objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities
Operational Management:
•Oversee day-to-day operations of the manufacturing and repair facility, including production scheduling, quality control, maintenance, and safety compliance.
•Coordinate with production supervisors to ensure resources, materials, and labor are effectively allocated to meet production targets and customer delivery commitments.
•Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for production efficiency, quality, and safety.
•Ensure production equipment is maintained and operated to maximize uptime and minimize downtime.
•Drive improvements in production workflows to reduce waste, improve throughput, and enhance labor productivity.
•Maintain a safe work environment, ensure proper PPE usage, and enforce safety policies and procedures.
Team Leadership:
•Lead, coach, and develop front-line supervisors and production teams.
•Foster a collaborative and accountable work environment focused on teamwork, safety, and high performance.
•Support employee training and cross-training initiatives to build skills and workforce flexibility.
Communication & Reporting:
•Provide regular updates to senior leadership on operational performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities.
•Work closely with engineering, quality, supply chain, and other departments to resolve operational issues and ensure alignment on priorities.
Customer & Quality Focus:
•Ensure that all products and repairs meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
•Collaborate with customer-facing teams to address issues quickly and maintain customer satisfaction.
Required Skills
•Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required; equivalent experience considered.
•5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing or repair operations, preferably in electric motor manufacturing/repair or a related industrial environment.
•Proven ability to lead teams, manage daily operations, and achieve performance targets.
•Strong working knowledge of manufacturing best practices, safety standards, and quality control processes.
•Hands-on leadership style with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
•Proficiency with MS Office Suite; ERP experience preferred.
