PURPOSE
To drive, guide and influence day-to-day operational activities for the Scottsville Rd location. Plan and communicate their business vision, growth and diversification to their team and drive the execution of an effective operations program. Understand and effectively communicate company goals at the departmental supervisory level. Direct staff to achieve individual and yard goals and successfully delegate responsibilities. Ensure compliance with company / state / Federal policies and guidelines; Health & Safety (H&S), Environmental, personnel, operations/production activities, cost controls, inventory, quality, and quantity specifications. Manage each department and make informed, deliberate decisions regarding departmental activities. Comprehend and synthesize high volume of information including metrics, reports, and written and verbal communications in a fast-paced environment.
Strive to achieve excellence in all facets of operations management. Provide the highest quality product safely, effectively, and efficiently decrease accidents and errors and increase profits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety and environmental policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards always.
•Create a “Safety First” culture in each department of responsibility: Ferrous, Non-Ferrous and Maintenance.
•Ability to lead teams and direct operations to maximize production and profitability.
•Ability to proactively drive change within the organization. Ability to understand that change is constant, and to continually strive to improve processes.
•Implement a solid training / mentoring program to ensure all new and tenured employees are successfully trained to effectively complete assigned tasks.
•Ability to read, interpret, explain, and consistently apply complex regulations and polices related to; Safety compliance, environmental compliance, scrap purchasing requirements, employee relations, best practices.
•Commitment to select, hire, develop and lead employees of different backgrounds to execute the company’s objectives to build an inclusive, varied workplace, welcoming people from all backgrounds.
•Proactively improve Yard efficiency and effectiveness by driving improvements in operations and equipment reliability.
•Ability to read, interpret and understand financial statements and the ability to project the impact of decisions on the financial results of an operation.
•Clear and thorough written and verbal communication of issues and opportunities.
•Ability to represent the organization in local community and political matters.
•Ability to work across boundaries with other departments and corporate staff members.
•Keen awareness of scrap market dynamics and the ability to manage people, inventories, and production operations through volatile changes in scrap pricing and volumes.

QUALIFICATIONS
•High school diploma required.
•College degree in business or engineering or equivalent business experiences a plus.
•Up to 5 years of experience in a scrap metal recycling business or 10 years in a related field, preferably in manufacturing.
