JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE
The Accountant is responsible for applying the principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
Municipality Accounting experience required
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Produces monthly P&L and balance sheet
- Calculates commissions for sales reps monthly
- Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures
- Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization’s accounting operation.
- Coordinates monthly close process
- Participate in internal and external audits
- Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Accurate and attentive to detail
- Excellent understanding of accounting principles
- Proficient computer (Excel and Word)/ten key skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma with 1-3 years prior administrative experience in a professional office environment
