Job Title:
Senior Accountant – Corporate Consolidations & ReportingReporting to the Sr. Finance Manager based in Katy, TX, the Senior Accountant – Corporate Consolidations & Reporting will play a key role in the monthly financial close and consolidation process for Newpark’s global operations. This position is responsible for assisting in the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements, intercompany reconciliations, foreign currency translation, and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) journal entries. The role will also support financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of consolidated financial results.
- Prepare and post consolidation and elimination journal entries within HFM or other consolidation systems.
- Support monthly and quarterly close processes to ensure accurate consolidation of domestic and international entities.
- Prepare journal entries for audit fee accruals, bonus accruals, and other corporate activities in Oracle.
- Maintain and reconcile intercompany balances across subsidiaries, ensuring proper elimination of intercompany transactions.
- Coordinate with regional and business unit accounting teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
- Support preparation of consolidated financial statements, management reports, and supplemental schedules.
- Perform foreign currency translations in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Review and reconcile currency translation adjustments
- Prepare and load journal entries and mapping adjustments in HFM or consolidation software.
- Support system maintenance, hierarchy updates, and validation processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to streamline consolidation and reporting.
- Ensure all activities comply with company accounting policies and U.S. GAAP.
- Maintain proper documentation and internal controls over consolidation and reporting processes.
Assist with audit requests, providing supporting schedules and reconciliations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience.- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (e.g., Oracle, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) or similar consolidation tools)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.- 5+ years of accounting experience, with experience in consolidations and intercompany reconciliations in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment is strongly preferred.
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA certification or progress toward CPA is a plus.
- Public accounting or audit background is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements and mentor junior staff.
