Accountable for the oversight of the surface and underground operations. The superintendent will lead and coordinate the safe, efficient, and effective execution of mining activities within your area of responsibility. - Provide direction, guidance, and support to Supervisors and other direct reports for effective daily execution.
- Promote teamwork, communication, and alignment across shifts and crews.
- Coach Supervisors in leadership, planning, and performance management.
- Recognize and reinforce desired behaviors and cultural standards.
- Encourage innovation, ownership, and employee participation in problem-solving.
- Ensure effective two-way communication between front-line teams and site leadership.
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership in the field.
- Ensure mining operations comply with MSHA and all other safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Work through front line supervisors to ensure operational goals are communicated and implemented effectively
- Monitor success through daily reports and address with front-line leaders routinely
- Complete quarterly and yearly budgets for the operations department, track actuals versus budget, and adjust as needed
- Ensures all employees consistently uphold the highest standards of workmanship, safety, and professionalism across operations
- Monitor and adjust equipment and team performance to ensure operational plans and targets are achieved.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 10 years of mine operations experience, preferably in an underground environment
- B.S. Degree in Mining Engineering or relevant experience, preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years in an operations or technical services leadership role
- Exposure to surface plants and mobile equipment maintenance is beneficial
- Professional Certification in Supervision, Safety Training or Mine Rescue considered an asset

- Report, as soon as practicable to their Manager any situations where HSEC requirements are not being conformed to within their work area
- Avoid endangerment to any other person through any act or omission
- Only use equipment you are trained to use and operate the equipment in a way that is safe, protects the environment and doesn’t cause undue community impacts.

- Report all incidents; including but not limited to injuries, near miss, community interactions and impacts, environmental impacts, spills, unsafe work practices, etc.
