About This Job

The Role

The purpose of this role is to conduct technical functions to effect subsurface production geology activities on the mining leases under the control of Nyrstar Tennessee Mines.

Key Accountabilities

Safety, Health, Environmental and Community

•

Promote awareness and ability to comply with site standards and procedures in SHEC

•

Demonstrate leadership in SHEC through personal behaviors and conversations

•

Improve the safety of all personnel, including yourself at Nyrstar TN Mines

•

Lead by example by adhering to all standards and procedures including wearing proper PPE at all times

Job Duties

•

Ore control activities – daily face and muck pile grading

•

Tracking daily ore production – record daily tonnes and grade by material type and mineral resource classification type

•

Stope mapping – daily mapping of face grades, lithology, and structure with reference to spatial coordinates into acQuire geology database

•

Develop detailed proposals for infill drilling and oversee all infill drilling programs

•

Compilation and reconciliation of site mineral resource inventory

•

Monthly mine geology reporting and mill reconciliations

•

Day-to-day coordination of Geology Technician daily tasks

•

Provide support to site management and engineering teams on mine plans, ore body confidence, actual mining vs. predicted mineral resource mining, and future exploration drilling needs

•

Validate all geologic mapping and assay sampling data imports in accordance with Nyrstar standards

•

Construct mineral resource estimation wireframes in 3D space based on new drilling data as it becomes available

•

Liaise with subsurface exploration drilling contractors

•

Complete down hole surveys on exploration drill holes as needed

•

Logging and sampling of infill chips and core logging as needed

•

Support the Geology Team as required and to the wider MTS Department

•

Support for and adherence to the Nyrstar Values and Behavior expectations

Qualifications And Experience

•

B.Sc. in geology or closely related discipline

•

3-5 years subsurface production geology experience in mining role

•

Experience in geological modelling software packages such as MineSight, Vulcan, LeapFrog

•

Exposure and experience in geostatistical resource estimation techniques and block modelling techniques

•

Exposure to a broad range of exploration drilling techniques

•

Good practical understanding of underground mining methods

•

Demonstrated ability to contribute and work effectively in a group as a team leader.

•

Good time management and prioritization skills.

•

Ability to coordinate the delivery of Geological processes.

•

•

Strong communication and leadership skills.

•
