Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Metal Expander Machine Operator to join our team on both day and night shifts. In this role, you will operate and maintain metal expansion machinery to produce high-quality expanded metal products. Your expertise in machining, fabrication, and quality inspection will ensure our products meet the highest standards. - Set up, operate, and monitor metal expander machines to produce precise expanded metal sheets and grating.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery including CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, press brake machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, and electrical discharge machining equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and sheet metal gauges to verify dimensions and quality standards.
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the production process to identify defects or deviations from specifications.
- Utilize hand tools, tooling, cranes, forklifts, and other equipment safely to handle materials efficiently.
- Maintain detailed records of production activities, machine performance logs, and quality reports.
- Proven experience operating manufacturing machinery such as CNC laser cutters, plasma cutters, press brakes, CNC mills/lathes, stamping presses, or similar equipment.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on complex machinery.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading (GD&T), precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers), and quality inspection techniques.
- Familiarity with fabrication processes including welding, sheet metal work, tooling setup, and assembly.
- Ability to work safely with hand tools, cranes, forklifts (certification preferred), and other manufacturing equipment.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tolerances.
