Membership Engagement Specialist
Position Overview:
The Membership Engagement Specialist is responsible for developing and executing strategies to attract, engage, and retain new and emerging membership segments within the CIM. This includes students, early-career professionals, underrepresented groups, and other key audiences. The role focuses on creating meaningful engagement opportunities, fostering connections within the industry, and enhancing the overall membership experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Membership Growth & Retention
•Develop and implement initiatives to recruit and retain members across new and underrepresented segments. Primarily composed of students and early-career segments but not limited to these segments.
•Promote the benefits of membership through targeted outreach and engagement campaigns with the CIM community (student chapters, branches and societies)
•Build and strengthen relationships with academic institutions, professional organizations, CIM constituents, partners and members.
2. Program & Event Coordination
•Plan and manage engagement programs and networking events for new members.
•Lead, promote and build engagement and participation in the CIM mentorship program for students and early career members by engaging with both mentors and mentees.
•Support participation in the association’s conferences, webinars, and professional development initiatives.
•Develop initiatives that help new members integrate into the broader association community.
3. Communication & Engagement
•Aid Communications and Marketing department to engage new member segments
•Act as a liaison between new members and the CIM community
4. Support & Development
•Assist in launching and managing special interest groups, young professional networks, and student chapters.
•Provide guidance, tools, and resources to help new members maximize their member experience.
•Collect feedback from members to refine engagement strategies and improve member satisfaction.
5. Partnership & Collaboration
•Work closely with internal teams, industry leaders, and external partners to enhance membership engagement.
•Collaborate with the marketing and membership teams to develop targeted recruitment and retention strategies.

•Experience in membership engagement, community-building, and/or association management.
•Knowledge of marketing, social media, and digital engagement strategies.
•Ability to develop and execute programs that enhance member value and retention.
•Comfortable working independently and cross-functionally within an organization.
The Membership Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role in strengthening CIM’s membership base by ensuring that new and emerging members feel welcomed, supported, and engaged in the community.

Job Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
•Experience : 3+ years in membership engagement, community management, association management, or a related role.
•Knowledge of digital engagement, social media, and outreach strategies.
•Experience coordinating networking events, workshops, and other member-focused activities.
•Data-Driven Approach – Ability to analyze membership trends and adjust engagement strategies accordingly.
•Strong organizational skills to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
•Familiarity with CRM systems and virtual event tools.
