Mountain Parks Electric is a distribution cooperative seeking an individual for the Member Services Specialist position in our Granby, Colorado location. Mountain Parks Electric has 65 employees, approximately 1,800 miles of line, and serves approximately 22,000 meters. MPEI is headquartered in Granby, Colorado located at an elevation of 7,935 feet, 90 miles from Denver International Airport and 25 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park. Experience gold-medal fishing in the Colorado and Fraser Rivers or take a boat out on Lake Granby, the second largest body of water in Colorado. Granby is near Shadow Mountain and Grand Lake and offers spectacular scenery, miles of hiking trails connecting Granby to Fraser, Colorado, downhill skiing, mountain bike trail systems, and down-hill bike park and cross-country trails at nearby resorts.
The Member Services Specialist plays a lead role in managing collections, disconnects, and capital credit records. This position manages disconnects from start to finish, including member notification, coordination with field staff, and prompt reconnections after payment. The Member Services Specialist is empowered to engage directly with high-touch members to resolve issues, encourage constructive behavior, and reduce repeat problems. This position will negotiate payment arrangements and use appropriate incentives to shift member behavior and reduce repeat issues. Sound judgment, consistency, and discretion are essential, as the role balances empathy with accountability. The specialist also supports the Member Services team as needed to ensure efficient, high-quality service to all members.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum 3 years of customer service or utility billing experience, preferably in a cooperative setting. Proven ability to negotiate, set boundaries, and handle difficult member interactions with tact and firmness. This position must be proficient with computers, phones, and standard office equipment. Ten-key skills are required. Strong understanding of cooperative services, tariffs, billing systems, and industry practices. Have the ability to manage competing deadlines and stay focused during high-volume periods. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment.
