Role Overview

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support the Maintenance & Asset Management Department in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the mine’s concentrator facility equipment. This role provides hands-on experience in mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, and reliability engineering practices within a dynamic industrial environment.

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities:

- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

- Support root cause analysis for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions

- Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities

- Participate in reliability improvement projects, including equipment upgrades and process optimization

- Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation for maintenance activities

- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company standards during all tasks

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, reliability, and safety personnel

- Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or related field

- Completed coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and machine design preferred

- Basic understanding of industrial mechanical systems and maintenance principles

- Proven work ethic, reliability, and willingness to take initiative

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus

- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

- Commitment to safety and attention to detail
