Position Title: MATERIAL HANDLING SPECIALIST Location: MIDLAND, TX
Class: NON-EXEMPT Responsible to: Materials Manager
Position Summary: The Material Handling Specialists will oversee all international and domestic shipping, receiving, and inventory control activities to ensure seamless material flow across VoltaGrid’s operations. This mid-level role is critical for maintaining inventory integrity through disciplined cycle counting, reconciliation, and implementation of best practices in warehouse and logistics management. Specialists will elevate accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in material management processes. The material handler assists with data-driven decisions to reduce waste, minimizes risk, and enhances operational readiness.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and shipments against purchase orders and packing lists.
- Accurately pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment or internal distribution.
- Managing EMR requests for operations and field requirements.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper labeling, cycle counts, and data entry into warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Assist with warehouse management systems (WMS) training and SOP standards.
- Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) in a safe and efficient manner
- Organize and maintain warehouse layout to optimize space and ensure accessibility.
- Coordinate with purchasing, logistics, and operations teams to ensure timely and accurate material flow.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and operational policies
- Identify and report any inventory discrepancies or damaged material
- Assist with periodic physical inventories and process improvement initiatives.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
- 5 years of experience in warehouse or logistics operations preferred.
- Proficient with warehouse management or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor as required.
- Forklift certification required by Voltagrid.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
