We are actively seeking a Marketing Accountant to join our team in Calgary. The successful candidate will report to the Team Lead, Marketing Accounting and will primarily be responsible for accounting of Strathcona’s rail operations.
- Gather, calculate, and analyze data to support the determination of rail netback pricing.
- Terminal invoicing to third parties and reconciling monthly activity and cash settlement.
- Prepare settlement invoices, confirm transactions with counterparties, reconcile supporting documentation and resolve discrepancies.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve billing and settlement issues.
- Work closely with marketing, production accounting, treasury, and financial reporting to ensure accurate and timely recording of marketing transactions.
- Perform the month-end close process for marketing activities, including accruals and inventory valuation.
- Complete required financial reporting schedules to support quarterly and annual financial statement preparation.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Respond to ad-hoc requests and provide analysis as needed.
- An undergraduate degree and 3 years of recent, direct experience.
- Understanding of financial accounting.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage various deadlines and deliverables.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with Q-byte would be an asset.
- Communication skills to facilitate working relationships with multiple departments.
