Position Title: Accountant Department: Accounting Employment Type: Hourly, Non-Exempt, Union
- Associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in corporate accrual accounting is preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret budgets, general ledgers and accounting functions, and apply cooperative accounting practices and principles.
- Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must possess and demonstrate effective administrative and leadership skills.
- Understanding of double entry accrual accounting is essential, plus the ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word proficiently.
- Work is performed in a typical office setting and may involve intermittent standing, walking, sitting, bending, or crouching. May lift objects up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Passing a company required drug screening is mandatory.
- Accounts Payable – Oversee the complete AP process, from invoice approval to payment, ensuring accurate coding, timely vendor payments, proper tax reporting, and organized electronic records.
- Cash Receipts – Record and post all daily cash receipts to keep financial records accurate and up to date.
- Miscellaneous Receivables – Manage various receivables, monitor account aging, send statements, and prepare annual recommendations for write-offs.
- General Ledger, Assets & Operations – Manage the general ledger, financial reporting, audits, and compliance. Oversee fixed assets, fleet, inventory, and work orders including tracking, depreciation, purchasing, and recordkeeping.
- Cross-Department Support – Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
