National Grid is hiring a Manager, T-Line (Internal and External) for our NY Electric Transmission Line Services department. This position can be based in Albany, NY.

The TLS/ TLM Manager will lead both internal and external teams within NY Transmission Electric Operations, ensuring effective management of construction and maintenance activities. This role is responsible for fostering a high-performance culture, maintaining budgetary oversight, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards across all operations.
- Lead and develop a diverse team of internal staff and external contractors, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain oversight of departmental budgets, ensuring financial resources are allocated effectively and efficiently to meet operational goals.
- Manage and maintain a comprehensive work plan, ensuring alignment with project timelines and resource availability.
- Establish and implement performance metrics to evaluate team effectiveness and project outcomes, driving improvements where necessary.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of goals and seamless execution of projects, facilitating communication and cooperation across teams.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, fostering a strong safety culture within the teams.
- Provide mentorship and support to team members, encouraging professional development and skill enhancement.
- Monitor and report on team performance, providing regular updates to senior management on progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize resource utilization and enhance operational efficiency.
- Two-year technical degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 8-10+ years of relevant electric transmission experience.- Strong knowledge of Federal, State, OSHA, local, and company safety and environmental regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret job scopes, prints, specifications, schematics, and contract documents, with a keen eye for detail and problem-solving.
- Understanding of contract management principles, including negotiation, execution, and oversight of contracts related to construction and maintenance activities.
- Familiarity with union oversight and the ability to navigate union agreements and relationships effectively.
- Thorough understanding of civil construction principles, equipment, work methods, and associated hazards, with the ability to mitigate risks.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
- Self-motivated with strong time management and record-keeping skills.
- Field experience with switching and tagging is preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
- Willingness to travel throughout the service territory and work extended hours as required for system emergencies.
- Proven ability to build effective, respectful working relationships with diverse teams and stakeholders.
