The Manager, Supply Planning – Potash manages facilitates the planning and scheduling of potash finished goods inventory across the major channels including site shipments, interior warehouse network and river position. The position analyzes the demand and coordinates supply planning to optimize the positioning of 9 million tons of Potash finished goods annually. The position works closely with other supply chain partners such as logistics, Product Management and Production Planning.
This role tracks and manages volume requirements for river destinations and third-party direct transfer facilities and looks at future opportunities for product placement and cost control in order to support future demand growth. The Supply Planner also manages planning for river open and river close periods that directly impact sales opportunities and distribution costs. Advises management on river related activities, supply position, and forecasted availability as an integral part of the Mosaic Business Planning process. The role also provides full coverage for the Phosphates River Planning position.
What will you do:
•Responsible for all potash supply planning by ensuring SK and NM sites are balanced per the order book and resupply requirements and providing solution to any inventory shortages while ensuring that tactical plans are aligned with the long-term plan
•Optimize the supply plan accounting for service levels and cost.
•Manage and update the planning module daily to ensure alignment with SK, NM, River and Warehouse DRPs on product positioning and shipments planning to meet targeted inventory positions in the network.
•Work with all logistics teams (Rail, and Marine) to ensure equipment is available for the short-term plan and adjust the plan as needed with the CFL, interior and River planners.
•Ensure all sites loading capabilities are aligned with the tactical supply plan.
•Ensure that the long-term supply plan is aligned with demand, production and logistics capacities and constraints.
•Ensure all inventories in SK and NM are within targets.
•Monitor all sites inventories and adjust tactical plans to avoid containments.
•Lead the weekly alignment and the monthly process for supply-demand balancing, constraints, allocations and forward-looking projections including strategic planning and special scenarios.
•Provide guidance to the supply planners to be aligned with the overall supply plan.
•Collaborate with Demand Planning, Product Management and Operations to identify and resolve any supply/demand imbalances.
•Drive cross-functional alignment with the business, Sales, Product Management, Supply Chain, Operations and Finance
•Prepare and lead the weekly supply and alignment meetings.
•Represent the supply planning portion of the integrated meeting.
•Responsible for the monthly supply meeting.
•Provide oversight of the river and interior bucket lists. Be able to articulate guidance on product availability and the resulting ending inventory based on both order book and remaining CDP. Additionally, understand the relationship of availability between regions and identify risks/opportunities to each considering resupply positioning.
•Set inventory target across the network based on supply chain principles and data analytics. The targets are reviewed quarterly.
•Provide supply chain analytics and can aggregate large amounts of data, filter for importance and tie together in a context relevant story designed to drive action.
•Provide oversight of the logistics contracts.
•Responsible for supply planning metrics.
•Responsible for process improvement projects related to the role.
•Develop and coach employees in order to retain and expand organizational talent in the planning team.
•Provide timely and constructive feedback on a regular basis to ensure employees have a clear understanding of their work, roles and the business.
•Manage performance issues when necessary.
•Work with employees on their career development plans and training.
What will you need:
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Management or related field.
•Masters Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Management or related field preferred.
•7+ years' experience planning and analytics tools.
•Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
•Experience creating executive friendly presentations on complex business and supply chain topics and presenting to senior level audience
•Strong analytical, organizational, decision making skills
•Proven ability to build and maintain productive cross-functional relationships excellent communications and interpersonal skills
•Ability to be successful driving change and leading processes in a highly matrixed environment across multiple business units
•Able to influence and drive decisions through the S&OP process
•Experience with large scale change management projects
