We are currently looking for a Production Planning Manager to join our team in Cheyenne, Wyoming.


PURPOSE OF POSITION

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Planning Manager is responsible for development of a master schedule that meets the demand of the customer and is effective in utilizing a plant’s capacity.


TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES


SAFETY:

Comply with and enforces all Nortrak safety policies and regulations.
Participate in development and review of JSAs, set up instructions, hazard analysis of new equipment and processes, behavioural based safety audits, and resolution of any assigned safety committee issues.


QUALITY:

Ensures the accuracy of all work process documentation (routers, BOM’s, etc.).
Maintains accurate schedule. Implements rigorous procedures to ensure all shipments are accurate and documented.
Ensures packaging meets Nortrak and customer requirements.
Establish, maintain, and monitor weekly and monthly production schedules based on customer due dates, input from Sales, and available capacity.
Utilize SAP for scheduling, capacity planning, etc.


ON-TIME DELIVERY:

Manages plant capacity to optimize output.
Develops valid, feasible production schedules for finished goods and component items based on equipment, labour and raw material availability.
Establishes and monitors committed delivery dates.
Ensures Shipping and Receiving practices meet all Nortrak and customer specifications and expectations.
KPI Requirements: On time delivery – customer, inter-company and inter plant. Target > 90% on Time.
Capacity reports – Load versus current capacity on all key work centers Forecast to actual invoicing by week. Inventory levels and turns. Target Turns > 5.0.


COST:

Controls, maintains inventory levels without negatively affecting delivery of products to customers or adding costs.
Oversee timely delivery and best economy for all production materials.
Interacts with Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing personnel to balance supply & demand.
Optimize routers to improve efficiency.
Apply APICS best practices.


PEOPLE:

Builds a strong logistics team through training, development of logistics staff in order to obtain continuous improvement in delivery and service to both internal and external customers.
Builds strong relationships between sales, marketing and manufacturing personnel within the voestalpine group.
Conduct/facilitate plant scheduling meetings.
Work with the Plant Manager, Sales, and Accounting to finalize the forecast.
Work with sales, plant, production and strategic sourcing managers to ensure OTD is > 90% and weekly invoicing exceeds a minimum of 20% of the monthly forecast.
Coordinate interplant delivery requirements.
Hire, coach, develop, and supervise a staff to create the master schedule.


ENVIRONMENTAL:

Adhere to Nortrak's Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.


Other duties as assigned.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

BHM - Create and maintain end-user friendly, accurate packing list for all product shipped
BHM- Perform daily production counts and verify the accuracy within SAP for certain products.
BHM- Track and record all castings that are sent to EDH and returned on a daily basis.
BHM&DCT- Review all new orders daily and adds to current schedules and verifies delivery.
DCT- Manage the production of the ductile finishing and manganese cleaning departments.
DCT- Oversee a cycle count program to ensure accuracy within SAP for certain products.
DCT- Lead the foundries manganese pouring, ductile pouring, and pattern production scheduling.


QUALITIFCATIONS:


EDUCATION:

Post Secondary education with diploma or degree in industrial logistics management, production planning, industrial management, or related discipline.
APICS-CPIM certification (Certification for Production & Inventory Management) preferred.


FIELD OF EXPERIENCE:

Three years’ experience in a managerial level position.
Experienced in developing Master Schedules.
SAP knowledge would be an asset.
Sound knowledge of MS Office standard and special programs.
Strong knowledge on MS Excel spreadsheets.
Utilization of plant capacities.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
Exhibit strong and effective verbal and communication skills.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment an asset.


PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
Must be able to lift or handle up to 25 pounds at times.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Occasional travel may be required which includes walking, standing, sitting and driving from short to long periods of time.
